PREFACE

The present volume is a further instahnent of a Calendar of certain documents selected from the class formerly known as Escheats, or Inquisitions post mortem. It covers the period from the 35th to the 38th year of the reign of Edward III. The text has been prepared by various officers of the Department, and the volume has been edited and passed through the press by Mr. M. C. B. Dawes, B.A., of this Office. Mr. Dawes has also compiled the Index.
